How to add a file, folder or program to startup?

  • You’ll be asked to restart your computer either now or later, make your choice.
  • Open the startup tab and select/unselect all the programs you want to enable/disable and click ok.
  • Type msconfig.exe in your start menu or Run windows to open the System Configuration panel.
  • Open Run by pressing the Windows key + R or type Run in your start menu and choose Run.
  • In these versions of Windows, you won’t be able to find the startup tab in your Task manager, that’s why we follow a different method:
  • If you can’t see the Startup impact column, right-click on any column and make sure you check the Startup impact from the list.
  • Once you disable any process, the state will turn into None, which proves that this process can’t affect your startup speed anymore. There are four different states for enabled processes: Low, Medium, High and Not measured. It’s recommended that you disable those with the High state but always make sure you don’t need any of them at startup.
  • A simple hint may help you choose which programs to disable is the Startup Impact column.
  • Right-click on the apps you don’t need to start automatically at Windows Startup and select Disable (or Enable if it was already disabled and you want to enable it back).
  • If you see the small panel, click More details to switch to the big panel.
  • Open task manager from your taskbar or by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc.

I dont knwo why ya'll cant just patch it. I would never have purchased a 12 month anyway, but if I did and this happened I would be seeking a refund (if it were 12 month) because the above problem really sucks. Its a good thing AVG offers 1 month subs. I could still use PC-Tune up's other features, but because i dont NEED them, I will cause my 1 month sub to NOT renew in ***PROTEST*** Sorry AVG, you didnt think that one through very well. I will Keep with AVG Internet Security (even though I only use Firewall and AV) because it seems to work ok. So I love AVG Products even with this minor setback, but I wont be renewing my subscription for PC-Tuneup (1 Month) until this issue is resolved. Some of this inconsistencyt may be due to the fact AVG has been purchased and sold manytimesin the last decade and i think evertime the new owners imagine a different direction for AVG which of course annoy's us existing customers off no end. I can NOT find this mentioned anywhere in AVG's Documentation. This option to ONLY be able to put them to sleep is obserd. One of the main reasons I purchased a subscription to PC-Tuneup was for the ability to stop certain programs from starting at windows Start.
